Jim Porcari

Founder, Managing Partner

A 45-year veteran of the Personal Lines Insurance industry, Jim brings a wide range of experience to IRI, with 30 years on the company side and 15 years providing consulting and doing extensive board work.

Jim has served as a director of 12 companies, both privately held and public, including Chair of the Compensation and Human Capital committee of publicly traded Protective Insurance (PTVC), which was purchased by Progressive in 2021.

Jim has worked with C-suite executives at multiple insurance companies and companies in the insurer support eco-system as well as principals at private equity firms working with insurers and insurer eco- system companies.

Jim’s extensive Insurance experience includes:

Executive claims leader for 5 insurance company acquisitions and 7 claims department integrations in 12 years as CCO at two national carriers. Extensive due diligence experience.

  • President AIG Personal Lines (US), leading claims through 2 acquisitions and 4 claims department integrations, while moving from 5 claim systems to a single new system and sunsetting all legacy claims systems
  • Developed multiple leaders, several who are now CCO’s and functional area leads for top tier companies
  • Chair, Executive Committee, AIG Worldwide Investigative Resources. Mentored new external hire as SIU unit President in the redevelopment of process, people and controls of this key AIG shared services operation
  • Vice Chairman, Board of Governors, National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) -2009, Board member 2005-2009

In addition to his P&C Industry work, Jim is the founder and managing Director of the MPB Fund (www.MPBfund.com) a 501(c) 3 charitable fund focused on the needs of nursing students at Community Colleges.

Carrie Koran

Senior Partner

Carrie has broad and deep senior level leadership experience in Claims, Legal, Customer Service and Human Resources. Her core strengths are helping our customers with organizational strategies to improve operations and performance, and optimize roles and responsibilities. Carrie is an executive and senior level coach who understands the demands of the work and challenges to execute at a high level.

Carrie’s executive leadership responsibilities:

  • Board Member of a private specialty insurance carrier, Chair of the HR and Compensation Committee.
  • Advisor for start-up companies regarding talent and operational 
  • Customer support operations, serving three distribution channels and 17 million transactions annually 
  • Personal Lines Lean 6-Sigma leader, top tier P&C carrier.
  • HR Business leader for Personal Lines and Operations. Responsible for talent acquisition, training and leadership development.
  • Corporate Legal National House Counsel Leader
  • Claims Senior Vice President, led a start-up and rapid growth national claims operation. Over 17 years claims experience.

 

Tom Kaschalk

Senior Partner
Tom brings more than three decades of senior-level insurance leadership and consulting experience across the United States and Canada. His career includes serving as Chief Claims Officer at three insurers, along with executive roles spanning claims, operations, and marketing in a wide range of operating environments.

Tom has a proven record of leading complex organizations through transformation, consistently improving performance, efficiency, and customer outcomes. His experience includes assuming leadership of underperforming business units and delivering sustainable operational results; designing and deploying enterprise claims platforms, including end-to-end implementation of Guidewire systems; and leading large-scale claims transformations.

His background also includes senior responsibility for Special Investigations and anti-fraud programs at a top-tier auto carrier, oversight of discontinued-business runoff operations in both the U.S. and Canada, and service on the Board of Governors of the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) for two carriers. Throughout his career, Tom has emphasized accuracy, cycle time, regulatory compliance, and expense discipline while maintaining strong customer service outcomes.

In addition to his insurance consulting work, Tom is an author and historian. He is the founder of My Cleveland History(est. 2023), a research business focused on genealogy, immigration, and solving family mysteries. He also serves as a volunteer researcher at the Cuyahoga County Archives and is a historical consultant on an upcoming film about the Kingsbury Run Murders. Tom is the author of Cleveland Neighborhood Pubs: A Pub Crawl Through History and Cleveland’s Ohio City. A Third Historical Publication will be announced shortly.
